The consultancy is managed by David Atkinson who has over 20 years experience in central government, local government and the voluntary and community sector. davidatkinsonconsulting was established in 2008.
Recent projects include:
- Primary research for the Reading the Riots study of the 2011 disturbances (The Guardian/London School of Economics );
- Programme evaluation for a national government department (Defra);
- Partnership volunteering strategy development for a London borough council (LB Camden);
- Guidance and case studies for national public bodies (NALC, CRC);
- Policy research for national and local civil society organisations (Locality and bassac)

Career history:
As Head of Development at bassac, the national membership body for multi-purpose community organisations, David won funding for and developed programmes on community leadership, procurement and commissioning; led successful proposals for national funding; and developed policy responses to Government initiatives.
As Head of Social Inclusion at the Countryside Agency and then the Commission for Rural Communities, David delivered a £6m Rural Social Exclusion programme; established policy positions on rural disadvantage and local governance; led research into rural disadvantage and contributed to policy publications.
David is currently a trustee of Westminster Citizens Advice.
